Composed, and implemented all phases for a start-up logistics management firm, which produced $1.6M revenues in first year on zero startup capital, with zero fixed cost and zero hard assets.  The firm operated on the movement of information, and provided value-added service, with higher-than-industry-average profits, into a commodity-like mature marketplace.

 

UNOCAL CORPORATION, Costa Mesa, CA     1994 - 1997

Operations Consultant /Market Project Leader/Strategic Planner (1995 - 1997)

Senior Internal Consultant, managing a variety of marketing and information technology projects, with division President accountability for $6.0 B, Fortune 200 Petrochemical company.  Project management, strategic planning, troubleshooting,  cross-functional / cross divisional management with authority and responsibility for implementation.

·        Prepared retail marketing/refining division for $2.0 B sale: quantified staff operations and technical systems, established benchmark processes, clarified division identity, increased performance; presented recommendations to executive management resulting in top-down restructuring and subsequent sale of division.

·        Identified and fixed procedural problems between IS and Marketing departments; developed a functional, value added, client/customer relationship bridge between these disjoint groups which resulted in the successful, comprehensive integration of company goals through IS, accounting, and marketing.

 Senior Market Analyst/Strategic Planner/Operations Consultant - CERT (1994 - 1995)

Key member of the CERT (Corporate Environmental Remediation Technology) market and product development team, performing comprehensive business development including new venture search, business plan review (incoming) and composition (outgoing), market projection, pro-forma, financial modeling, due diligence, merger/joint venture negotiation, set-up, new venture operation, and exit strategy formulation and implementation.  Reviewed a large number of merger and joint venture candidates, with further team review based solely on my evaluation.

Prepared $1.0M laboratory division for sale.  Researched potential customers and competitors; analyzed products, pricing, markets and distribution; reviewed business plans, interfaced with HR and Legal departments, located and secured new buyer, managed and empowered personnel to reduce inefficiencies 70% in 30 days, ensured continued employment for over 90% of workers.

Member of “Founding Entrepreneur’s” management team.  P & L responsibility for developing and implementing a business and marketing plan for a start up hazardous waste TSDR (treatment, storage, disposal, recycling) facility.  Responsibilities included forecasting and delivering revenues and profits, staffing, recruiting, and compensation; oversight and coordination for internal operations.  Built a thriving company with zero startup working capital.  Piloted company from sales of zero to sales of over $2 million in six months.

 

 RHO-CHEM CORPORATION, Inglewood, CA     1986 - 1990

Hazardous Materials Consultant/Territory Manager

Profit and loss responsible, comprehensive territorial responsibility for $15 MM TSDR facility.  Served as environmental consultant communicating regulation requirements at technical and non-technical levels.  Solicited, acquired, and serviced accounts.  Set pricing, quantities, and terms controlling profitability for both new chemical sales and waste chemicals treatment.  Generated a 55% increase in sales, achieving a 76.5% increase in overall profitability.
